Hello and welcome to my blog.
In this post, I’m going to mention my dog Bella.
She’s an eight-year-old Yorkshire Terrier/Poodle crossbreed, a Yorkipoo if you will.
I’ve always had dogs in my life and dogs are a very important part of who I am. You see, I find them to be great fun and good companions. Bella always wants to be with me, always wants to play and always has a sense of adventure about her. Dogs are wonderful, and maybe you agree with me on that.
Did you know that Bella appears as a character in my children’s book “Pet Talk”?
I based a storyline on her and incorporated it into the book because I’ve often thought that she looks so cute, such an adorable and attractive dog. That and her physical build being very small. She is lightweight too, weighing a mere 5 to 6kg (depending on how many snacks she’s consumed) and just over 12 inches in length. Those two factors would make her such an easy steal! She could get snatched, left unattended, and put inside someone’s coat, and you’d just not see her she’s so small.
Can you imagine how upsetting that would be for me if ever she was taken away from us? Can you perhaps imagine how she would feel ripped away from all that she knows and everyone that she interacts with and who also loves her? And don’t try and tell me dogs don’t care, they only care if they are fed and homed and treated right. Bella recognises and remembers everyone that I know and care about, any visitor to the house and any member of the family that she has previously met. She never forgets! Oh, and she especially knows the postman, who kindly posts her a daily snack of a biscuit through our door, or via the rear gate as he goes about his daily routine – what a nice man, with a similar soul to my own.
Because of this thought sloshing around in my mind, that Bella would be an easy target for thieves, I thought why not put it into the book? That then became one of the main themes of the debut first story in what will become a series of stories about “The Gang of Geeks”.
I won’t tell you how important a part she is in the story because I don’t want to spoil it for you, but as Bella in real life is an important part of me, rest assured, she may well appear in other books too.
Happy reading!
